DJT: On a Different Clock

Why, oh why, did the heretofore GOAT POTUS snatch ignominious defeat from the jaws of certain victory? The touted Iranian MOU defies experience and is wildly denied by the Iranian tyrants. Most painfully, it pulled the Persian rug out from under the people who this President promised to help. Realistically, it's unlikely to last six days, let alone sixty.

Yet, the world outside the Iranian street LOVES it, especially the markets. People treasure PEACE, never mind that this Peace Deal has less chance of success than Joe Biden at a chess tournament.

Is it even defeat? Could it — possibly — be just one more step, one more Trumpian step, to a monumental victory? What follows is an attempt to make it make sense. Here goes.

World Historic Stakes

The Islamist Tyrants running Iran for the past half century are fossil-fueled fossils from the Seventh Century. They brought death and destruction to Iran even more than to Israel, Lebanon, Syria, Yemen and beyond. DEATH TO AMERICA is how they open their parliament, then DEATH TO ISRAEL. America First means something different to them.

That's why I, for one, am desperate for the GOAT POTUS to stick the landing by ending the greatest military campaign in American history with a final coup de grâce, not a DEAL the tyrants will survive.

UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER is what the GOAT POTUS promised. That's needed here, same as it was for the Nazis, for Imperial Japan, and for the Confederacy.  Genocidal states must be defeated like vampires, with a stake through the heart. That stake is an UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER, witnessed by the world.

This is true all the more when almost 100 million souls remain imprisoned by the Iranian Tyrants. Most Germans suffered grievously under the Nazis and most Japanese suffered under Tojo. Iran under the Islamist Tyrants is in that same infamous league. Hell, they mowed down 40,000 of their fellows in one week back in January, in part because those Persians rose up upon hearing the exhortations of the President of the United States. That's a pretty big check Donald J. Trump signed in the name of America.

Then there's the matter of the harm this does to Israel. Jew Haters who bemoan our relationship with our top ally are terribly deluded. Without Israel, America wouldn't be tech dominant, meaning America wouldn't be the rich country we've known for half a century now. Israel is also a force-multiplier for American interests in a vital part of the world. At a foundational level, Israel's capital — Jerusalem — is where the American creed began.

World historic stakes of this magnitude come along once a century. No wonder then, that everyone is shpilkes over this, everyone but Donald J. Trump.

DJT's Different Clock

Donald J. Trump is different, as young sports fans say about a Michael Jordan or a Steph Curry. That is to say: He is comprehensively superior to his competitors and predecessors. He plays his own game, calm when others are frantic, focused when others are distracted.

For instance, DJT has a different clock than everyone else. His is both insanely rapid and maddeningly patient. Trump Time is typically thought of as the first, but paradoxically also includes the latter. That's what we're seeing with his approach to the Islamist Tyrants.

His clock is working against a deadline backdated from November 3, 2026, the last midterm election of his Presidency. Midterms are won or lost on one metric: the price of gas. Nothing else matters, assuming American warriors aren't getting killed overseas. DJT knows this. The question is how soon before the midterms must gas be cheap again? I thought Memorial Day. Donald Trump thinks otherwise. He apparently thinks he's got till the Fourth of July, or beyond. He probably figures he can push it out to Labor Day if needed, enduring a full summer of affordability angst.

Hence, the fact that this MOU is almost certainly bound for failure is OK because it further bleeds the Islamists as the stalemate continues, yet Americans aren't dying. He knows that true peace will only come when the Islamists no longer control Iran, and he fervently hopes they will implode before he has to kill them all.

Time is on his side, even if the rest of us are freaking out.

Shattered Trust

The MOU is not cost free. It triggered profound disappointment in his most fervent supporters. This is the worst thing to happen to those of us in the MAGA Movement since before he stood back up in Butler. It's also devastating to tens of millions of his biggest supplicants in Iran and Israel. We are demoralized. They are devastated.

It also seems to have alienated top members of the Trump team. SecState Marco Rubio and Ambassador Mike Huckabee are notably silent, even as VP Vance is out front owning this. This may end up fracturing the 2028 Vance-Rubio ticket, just one of many risks POTUS is taking. Huckabee's angst must be damn near biblical. Resignations are possible.

The Apprentice 2026

JD Vance has long been thought an isolationist. His boss isn't an isolationist, but tolerates having one as his second-in-command because it is a powerful corrective to the foolish adventurism of recent decades, and because his young VP has many other positive qualities.

Now, JD owns this ill-advised venture, being the one to sell it on the morning shows and the one going to Switzerland to sign it. He's the isolationist dog who caught the Islamist car. When it blows up, as it almost surely will, Trump will cruise right along to ultimate victory. Remember, time is on his side. JD's presidential aspirations won't be so lucky.

Marco should emerge untainted. He was already rising above his best-buddy JD in presidential expectations. Now, Vance has strapped himself to a political time bomb.

Trump wins either way, just so long as he achieves real victory before his own clock expires.

Presidential Dopamine Hits

Our indefatigable President was in his glory today in France for the G7. Sitting next to a rapt Emmanuel Macron, he was the Great Man Who Brought Peace to the Middle East. The President of France could only look on in wonder, never getting in a word edgewise.

The Presidential dopamine hit from that moment is profound. It will now be carried over into today's G7 meeting and tomorrow's high-profile dinner hosted by Macron for Trump at the Palace of Versailles. The dinner will mark the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence, with the President of the United States feted as the greatest peacemaker since the Declaration. That dopamine hit will be off the charts, for him and for America.

Bottom Line

President Trump hates when innocent people die, a POV he regularly expresses. He loves to kill bad guys in surgical strikes, but has yet to order any attack with the potential for a humanitarian crisis. "Bridge and Power Plant Day" was never his plan. It would create just such a humanitarian crisis, with TRUMP written all over it. Hence, for moral and branding reasons, he doesn't want to go that way.

However, he knows the Iranian Tyrants can only be trusted to lie, and that they must therefore be replaced by a pacific regime. He also knows that time is on his side. He often says that two weeks is a very long time. Well, the time till Labor Day is over two months, a veritable eternity in Trump Time.

The career of his Vice President might be destroyed in that time, even as his SecState continues a meteoric rise. Most importantly, the safety of the American people, and the legitimate aspirations of the Iranian and Israeli people, are still in very good hands, even if it doesn't seem that way today in Tehran, Jerusalem and throughout the MAGA Movement.
